Στις 22 Ιουνίου μου ζητήθηκε να βοηθήσω στη διάσωση ενός σκύλου που εντόπισε μια κάτοικος στον Γέρακα. Επειδή οι δυνατότητές μου (οικονομικά και από άποψη αναζήτησης φιλοξενίας) είναι περιορισμένες, ζήτησα τη βοήθεια του Dog’s Voice, που άμεσα ανταποκρίθηκε θετικά και δεσμεύτηκε για την κάλυψη του κόστους περίθαλψης και τη μελλοντική αναζήτηση φιλοξενίας. Χωρίς αυτή την (ανεκτίμησης αξίας) υποστήριξη, δε θα μπορούσα να βοηθήσω.

Με την Ioanna πιάσαμε την ίδια μέρα τον σκύλο αυτόν και τον πήγαμε στο Vets4Life, όπου ξεκίνησε η αντιμετώπιση των θεμάτων υγείας της Σιέννας, όπως την ονόμασε μια νοσηλεύτρια. Λίγες μέρες αργότερα, πήρε εξιτήριο (μιας και δεν είχε λόγο να νοσηλεύεται άλλο) και την πήρα σπίτι μέχρι να προγραμματιστεί το χειρουργείο για το συντριπτικό κάταγμα που είχε στο πίσω δεξί πόδι.

Το χειρουργείο έγινε στις 4 Ιουλίου και πήγε καλά. Στους επόμενους μήνες, η Σιέννα σιγά σιγά επανήλθε (και σωματικά και πνευματικά) σε μια φυσιολογική κατάσταση. Είναι ακόμη επιφυλακτική με αγνώστους αλλά εμπιστεύεται γρήγορα. Συμβιώνει χωρίς πρόβλημα με σκυλιά και γάτες στο σπίτι.

Η Σιέννα είναι έτοιμη προς υιοθεσία. Μέχρι να βρει το μόνιμο σπίτι της, κάθε συνεισφορά στα μηνιαία έξοδά της (~100€, εκτός απροόπτου), είναι πολύτιμη. Αν δε μπορείτε να συνεισφέρετε, please share!

On June 22, I was asked to help rescue a dog that a resident found in Gerakas, a suburb of Athens. Due to my limited resources (financially and in terms of finding a foster home), I requested the support of Dog’s Voice, which promptly responded positively and committed to covering the cost of vet care and future efforts to find a foster home. Without this invaluable support, I could not have assisted.

On the same day, Ioanna and I captured the dog and took her to Vets4Life, where Sienna, as a nurse named her, began receiving medical treatment. A few days later, she was discharged (as she no longer needed hospitalization), and I took her home until the surgery could be scheduled for the severe fracture in her right hind leg.

The surgery took place on July 4 and went well. Over the next few months, Sienna gradually recovered, both physically and mentally, returning to a normal state. She is still cautious with strangers but quickly trusts. She has no problems living with other dogs and cats in the house.

Sienna is ready for adoption. Until she finds her permanent home, any contribution to her monthly expenses (around €100, excluding unforeseen circumstances) is highly appreciated. If you cannot contribute, please share!
